WEAK13 ::: Live Ammo

Independent British band WEAK13 who describe themselves as an industrial / metal / grunge act, have spent over two years putting together this album, and from listening to it, it feels as though they do not know what their niche market is.

Lunatic: The vocals aren’t strong enough and the guitar chords are also weak. Very basic tune and very repetitive. I was happy it only went on for 2min 15seconds, most of the song was just one tone there was no change at all and I was expecting so much more.

Nothing to lose: I like the way the instruments used were garden objects. Shows the band has some sort of creativity and uniqueness, however the tune was just tacky and the beat was not strong at all. Again I’ve never heard something to be repeated so much. Even though the song meant a lot as it was about a man who had lost everything. I found it slightly hard to listen too.

Wake Down: this to me was basically a racket. It felt as though lead singer was trying to be a rock star however sounded as if he was trying to be Keith Flint from the Prodigy. I would give you safety if you stopped! And the crying at the end, slightly creeped me out.

My Last Partner: The guitar was so bad in this track that I was slightly embarrassed. It reminded me of a bands first gig that just went horribly wrong. WEAK13 said that this song was written in 20 minutes, and you would clearly hear this if you listen to it!

Prouder than U 2: So here we have some rap, sure why not. It felt as though the Lead singer had some inspiration from Rage against the Machine, but fell flat on his face. Also the official video reminded me of The Rubberbandits.

D*N*A: I understand where they came from describing this track as eerie. However the only thing that made this track slightly creepy was the video which showed someone trapped in a wall, someone in a bag and other weird things. I just didn’t understand it as he described “Insanity as a type of innocence”.

M1TH3R F1CK3R: This was the only track I felt that met the criteria of meeting the wanted style “grunge”. The double peddling on the drums and the strong bass line brought this track to life. However I cannot understand a word that is being sang.

My Own Yours: This Track was more upbeat from the others, however still didn’t tickle my fancy. And with repeating “Mine” throughout the song just makes the lead singer sound like the irritating seagulls from the movie Finding Nemo.

WEAK13 need to work on not repeating the lyrics in every song and spending more time on writing quality songs, and not the measly 20 minutes that they said was spent on the track "My Last Partner".
