Something Illustrated ::: The Spaces Between Us
I also liked the guitar solo in ‘Head.Heart.Hands‘ as I felt it took some guts to get away from their comfort zone. However the instruments seemed to just be a little messy as you could not focus on the one instrument as another one would then take your concentration.
However I feel that the guitar could be somewhat stronger to make the listener get more into the songs, as the guitar seemed to lack that umph factor that every song needs. I felt that the only thing that kept me listening was the clever lyrics and the constant drum beat.
This UK band seem to be confused with what genre they are aiming for as there EP is a mix mash of rock, love song and jazz, even though they claim to be a progressive pop punk band.

The debut EP “The Spaces Between Us" from Scotish band Something Illustrated opens up with natural sounds of the sea. Something illustrated grasp the listener into a whirlwind of emotional lyrics. Lead singer Jamie Pettinger has a mellow voice that is strong yet soothing to the ear. These heartfelt lyrics are words which the young lady would like to hear from her lover. Something Illustrated use a lot of imagery in there lyrics ranging from the’ setting sun ‘.
