Fox Jaw Bounty Hunters ::: The Devil in Music
Opening track “Little black marble” has an eerie start, yet absolutely rocking performance. Lead vocalist Ronan Mitchell has one of the best vocal voices I’ve heard this year. His voice still keeps the Limerick twang which slips through every now and again.
“Strip the city” was the stand out track for me on this album, as it had a very Johnny Cash quality too it with the low key and husky yet listenable voice.
In each track there is no doubt that you can hear a true rock band; however you can also hear some traditional Irish aspects in each track, therefore keeping their music cultural.
Fox Jaw Bounty Hunters have that distinct tone that would not be to everyone’s taste as the minor keys that are used throughout leaves a very moody and dark aspect towards the album.
However that is only a minor flaw, even with the key being extremely low and sometimes slightly depressing, the lyrical genius in these tracks makes up for it
Unfortunately I would not listen to this album everyday, but from time to time or when I’m in a seriously aggressive mood this album will come in handy.
Album Rating- 4.5/6 Review by Kelly McGill
This band seriously knows how to rock. Fox Jaw Bounty Hunters are well known for their rock and roll prowess with successes under their belt such as number 19 in Dan Hegarty's top 50 Irish Albums of 2011, a great achievement for an unsigned band.
