Brent Duncan ::: 245 Australian singer/songwriter Brent Duncan’s new album “245” is an album that has a variety of genres mixed together. It ranges from rock and acoustic to dance and not forgetting a beautiful duet.
This album throughout is filled with very heartfelt lyrics and this is heard straight away in the opening track “Shut your mouth”. Brent seriously means business in this track as he sings “I am sick of everyone”. This fast song seems to be a rant about people who have put him down in the past.
The drums and guitar throughout this album have a strong and soothing melody and beat. Although Brent’s voice isn’t the strongest, you can hear in each track his passion for music which makes his voice stand out. Some of these tracks such as “Give it all you got” are songs that you would sing into your hairbrush.
The album shows Brent is a very emotional artist and if you get on his bad side he will write a song about you like “Used” this song portrays that he has had some bad relationships that he likes to write about, just like a male version of the UK’s sensational Adele. He seems to put all his anger and frustration into his music which makes him a strong artist.
However some tracks seem to mix genres and makes it feel as though it’s not as good as it can be such as “Karma”. As well as that sometimes the lyrics are slightly weak and the instruments are the only thing that made me listen with the fresh and funky beats.
“Cover me in chocolate feat Rebecca Hetherington” was the stand out track. Hetherington’s voice was just a breath of fresh air in this song. Her voice was effortless and natural. Both together were a great combination of voices that made an effortlessly amazing tune. 4/6
