Ajenda ::: The Suomi Sessions

The Suomi Sessions' opens with the fresh and punchy ‘Drinking Games’. There is a good use of acoustic and electric guitars and trashing solos worthy of whipping the air guitar out.

Vocalist Jen no doubt has a powerful voice and her irresistible tones effortlessly caress the song from start to finish. The insane comparison of a genius blend of Bon Jovi style music with the vocals of Pink hits me.

Who would have thought that would work? I am more than excited about this band so it is with great disappointment that the second song on the EP ’Hotel Rooms’ comes across as dated and it doesn’t get any better with ‘Change’. The lyrics describe being faced with the exasperation of everyday life but unfortunately it is the song that ends up being monotonous and stale.

‘Hollow’ opens with a laid back, relaxed vibe achieved by the use of acoustic guitars and drum beats but as the song meanders towards the end I still haven’t found the original source of my excitement.

The final track on the EP ’Ink Me Slow’ serves as a reprieve for the band. The cry to ‘pierce my soul’ is haunting and you can hear genuine emotion in the vocal.

Ajenda have definite potential and I’m open to hearing more from the band. If they concentrate on what makes them stand out they could be great. The commanding female vocal is a breath of fresh air in today’s rock scene.
